Welcome to the Dutch Department of the ISE primary school
We have about 160 pupils in our Department from countries all over the world. Together with the teachers we would like to provide the best opportunities for your children to develop themselves.
In the Dutch department teaching methods are used which fulfil the attainment targets. The subject areas in the Dutch department are theme based. For shaping our lessons for groups 5-8, in the school year 2013-2014 we have switched to the use of digital resources, Zaken van Zwijsen. In groups 3 and 4 ‘Veilig de Wereld in’ is used, and groups 1 and 2 have started working with ‘Kleuterplein’ in the school year 2016-2017 for a number of years. More information about the Dutch curriculum can be found on the website http://tule.slo.nl. At the beginning of the school year 2014-2015 the Dutch department started a pilot for bilingual education. This pilot project was first implemented in groups 1 and 2. 30% of the children’s lesson time will be English spoken. In the following years this pilot was continued. Every year 1 or 2 year groups were added to the pilot. Our goal is to have 30% of our lessons in English in every group.
We feel it is important to participate together with the parents. Therefore we ask parents to help us for instance for the Friday afternoon activities or other activities in class. We have several planned parent meetings during the year, but it is always possible to meet with the teachers to discuss the development of your child.
